I talked with my dealer today about doing the 50 hr. service. He said the hydraulic fluid & filter wouldn't be changed unless it needed it (discolored, had debris, etc.). Is this normal for the 50 hr. service? I thought the hydraulic fluid would be changed regardless.

BARNEE; Your 50 hr. fluid and filter change is probably the most important service to prolong the life of your tractor that will ever occur while you own it. Fluid and filters are free compared to parts and service down the road. Any machining chips left floating around in a transmission and hydraulic system are simply begging for future troubles. You'll be well repaid for the 50 hr. service. Frank. ....

BARNEE: You might note what is in the manual. For my BX23 it says that the fluid and filter MUST be replaced at the 50 hour servicing. IMHO Hardwood is right on track. Wonder what your dealer has been smoking. ....

The 50 hr service must be performed per the manual, and keep all receipts and any other documentation. Not following your manuals maintenace schedule will void your warranty.

Sounds like your dealer buddy needs his filters changed. ....

I suggest you do this service yourself. With an attitude like that; I would not trust the dealer to do the service by the book and do their best to do it right. ....

Ditto.
I did mine a couple months ago and it worked out good. It wasnt much of a mess and when I was done, I felt more comfortable with the tractor. We are intimate:0.
My dealer, actually two of them that I called, said the same thing, no need to change hydro fluid. I changed all the fluids and filters when I did it. ....
